![]() | How many credits are required to be considered a regular student? | |
A minimum of 9 credits and a maximum of 15 credits. If a non-regular student begins pre-professional internships (corporate or community service), these may count toward credits. This can be done until the fourth week of classes (registering internships in Integra, the department that manages internships: Check the process here). The equivalence is 1 credit for every 48 hours completed. After this period, the Associated Dean Office will validate credits through Academic Information.

Your enrollment will remain active for up to 5 years.

No, it is not allowed.

It depends on available sections and capacity. If one section is full but another has space, requests for the full section will not be approved.

You may take the A prueba autorizado course plus 2 additional courses; however, you may not be considered a regular student. Costs apply based on the socioeconomic index (ISE).

No. You must request a payment extension (only once during your academic life) and commit to pay it before the next term. You must send a request form to the e-mail dia@espol.edu.ec signed and attaching your ID. (in one pdf file)

No. You must complete all internship hours and meet curriculum requirements.

![]() | Can I validate courses from Coursera, EdX, Miríadax, or LinkedIn Learning? | |
It is possible to request the homologation of these courses provided that the course has a minimum duration of 28 hours. To do so, you must submit a request to the Academic Information Department (DIA) via email at dia@espol.edu.ec, attaching the course completion certificate, within the established deadlines. The final deadline is one week before the final process of each academic term. In the case of LinkedIn Learning, as it is a platform managed by ESPOL, a specific sequence of steps with defined dates must be followed.

Major changes are processed as follows: through a formal request submitted via: click here
Only during the authorized periods specified in the institutional academic calendar published on ESPOL’s website: click here. The program coordinator of each faculty will decide whether to approve the request based on established criteria. If the requested change is to a program belonging to a different field of knowledge from the student’s current one, the applicant must take the examinations required by the Admissions Office. This process is carried out in accordance with the provisions set forth in Article 96 of the Academic Regulations.

Note: If you are receiving any scholarship or financial aid (e.g., for sports, housing, administrative assistantships, teaching, or research), you must first request the cancellation of these benefits through the Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Studies and then proceed with the withdrawal process in accordance with Article 28 of the ESPOL Academic Regulations.

Corporate: These are carried out in public or private institutions with which ESPOL has an agreement. | ||
Community service: These are carried out only during the regular academic term and must be completed under a program or project led by the Office of Community Engagement.

In the case of corporate internships, you may apply to the opportunities listed in your academic system under the code CEP-EMPR, which are positions created directly by companies. Opportunities listed under the code UVS-EMPR correspond to cases where students have independently secured an internship placement.
For community service pre-professional internships, you may apply during PAO 1 or PAO 2 whenever a call for applications is announced. Information about these calls is shared through informational sessions promoted on the Faculty’s social media channels.

The CELEX MOOC team is responsible for registering all students who are in the admission process or who have the MOOC pending. Once the registration is completed, students will receive a notification from the Technology Management Office via email, informing them that they can access the course through virtual.espol.edu.ec.

![]() | Why is it necessary to pass the English MOOC? | |
Passing the English MOOC is required, as it is a prerequisite for enrolling in English I. Otherwise, you will not be able to register for any English courses.

![]() | What is the minimum passing grade for the MOOC? | |
The minimum average grade required across the three MOOC modules is 70 out of 100. If this grade is not achieved in any of the modules, the student must retake the entire MOOC.

If you do not enroll in English courses for three consecutive semesters, the system will block your registration for other courses.

No. Neither the MOOC nor any English courses can be validated through external academy courses or international certifications.

To validate English courses, students have two options:
Students who have passed the MOOC and have not enrolled in any English course may take the placement exam once, free of charge, and depending on their performance, validate all courses in the program.

Even if you have an international exam such as TOEFL or IELTS, you must first validate your knowledge by completing the English MOOC. Afterward, you will be included in the list of candidates for the free placement exam.

![]() | Can I take the knowledge validation exam for an English course that I previously failed? | |
No. The knowledge validation exam can only be taken during your first enrollment in the course.

The exam may be taken only once per course. The grade obtained will be recorded in your academic record. If you fail or do not attend the exam, the course will be considered failed.

Yes. The cost is established in accordance with the ESPOL Regulations on Fees, Enrollment, and Rights for admission and undergraduate levels.
