Bachelor in Tourism

The program of Bachelor in Tourism trains professionals with ethics, socially and environmentally responsable with comprehensive knowledge in operations, tourism planning and business tourism to contribute with dinamization of the industry to meet the needs of society and contribute to the change of the production model of the country. Also train comprehensive professionals with relevant knowledge to optimize, plan and evaluate the efficient use of scarce resources, promoting the sustainable development, generating value and reducing uncertainty in the decision making process in the public and private sector.

* Undergraduate tuition/fees:
The Constitution of the Republic of Ecuador in its Article 356, among other principles, establishes that third-level public higher education will be tuition/fees free.  Zero cost education is linked to the academic responsibility of the students.

Candidates profile: Candidates must be observants, sensible, proactive, persistant and with basic knowledge of social sciences, geography of the country.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

  1. Collaborate with the local development through the application of tourism planning tools.
  2. Generate solutions associated to the business tourism to contribute to the economical development of the country. 
  3. Design activities and touristic products according to the needs of the tourists attached to ethics.
    1. Acquire new abilities, technical and scientific knowledge, along their labor life, considering the technological advances applied to the tourism area. 

STUDENT OUTCOMES

  • Apply technical tourism planning tools in natural and urban spaces for the sustainable management of tourism.
  • Manage fundamental information and communication technologies (ICT) for operation, planning, and business tourism.
  • Have the ability to design tourism products in accordance with current trends and responding to local social demands.
  • Have technical skills to plan and coordinate events, accommodation and catering services in the field of business tourism.
  • Recognize the need to value and preserve the natural and cultural heritage of Ecuador

At the completion of the degree students are prepared to work in areas of Business Tourism, Tour Operation, Tourism Planning with social and environmental conscience in local and international context.

The Capstone Project is a culminating requirement for graduation. These projects provide students with the experience of applying acquired knowledge and skills to the needs of society, with a focus on sustainability.
The IDEAR Fair showcases all Capstone projects, offering students a valuable opportunity to showcase their work and hone soft skills such as communication and teamwork. It is also a space for students to network with potential clients and future employers.
