The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FCSH) of ESPOL welcomed 163 students who are about to begin their university life: one hundred and sixty-three stories and ways of seeing the world that now begin to come together in a shared space, to learn how societies are built, organized, and transformed.
Following a welcome ceremony on the Rectorate esplanade, the incoming students met with the Faculty's authorities and academic coordinators, with the aim of getting to know them and learning how they will work together.
The Dean of the FCSH, Carla Ricaurte, spoke about her role within the Faculty and shared a message with the new Polytechnic students: "Enjoy your time here; this is where you will meet friends for life."
For her part, the Associate Dean Patricia Valdiviezo explained to the students how the Faculty's academic structure works and reminded them of their responsibility to complete their courses in an orderly and appropriate sequence in order to achieve their goal of graduating.
The event also gave students the chance to meet their academic coordinators, ask them questions, and learn that the coordinators will always be their first touchpoint throughout their university experience.
After the welcome, the incoming students took a tour guided by members of the FCSH Student Association, visiting classrooms, laboratories, common areas and study spaces, while learning about ESPOL, the campus, and the programs. In this way, they began to recognize the organization they are now part of.
Monday September 28th. will be their first day of classes. We wish them success and hope this marks the beginning of a transformation as individuals, through interdisciplinary learning that allows them to understand social structures and contribute to changing them.
